These are the web pages of the Guernsey Bass Anglers Sportfishing Society. GBASS is a club which is dedicated to fishing for bass, both from shore and boat in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
The Club has many dedicated members who fish all year round from our shores to try and land as many bass over qualifying weights as possible.
This sounds a bit wrong with the current ethics of returning fish to the sea BUT GBASS has a different charter to that of other clubs and actively encourages catch and release (C&R) of ALL bass caught by it's membership.
Every member has the opportunity to have their personal digital scales calibrated with the official club scales which allows them to weigh their own fish and return them to the sea alive, with or without a witness. Of course you are allowed to keep fish for your own consumption and in that case they can be weighed on certified scales.
This obviously relies greatly on the club trusting its members and that is soemthing which makes the club stand from the crowd.
This site is still under construction so check back regularly for any additions or contact us with any suggestions for improvement.
The Gallery pages have been updated with a few fishy photos by club members, any other photos of club members with their catch can be sent to andymarquis@hotmail.com for loading onto the site.
